Rebellion
Ephesians 5:15-16All of us at some point in our lives have been Renegades. While being a Renegade we have all made dumb decisions. Some of these dumb decisions have left us with regrets, scars, heartache, and guilt. None of purposely plan to mess up our lives but we also don’t plan to not mess up our lives.
This past Sunday we learned that if we want to have less regrets in life we need to be using wisdom to evaluate our circumstances. The next time we are faced with a decision we should ask the question: is this the wisest thing for me to do?
Wasting Time
Luke 10:38-42This Sunday we learned that busyness is the enemy of intimacy. Often in our lives we get so busy doing “life” that we squeeze out our intimacy with God. We know that God should be First but we have a tendency to forget that as our day flies by.
Sunday we looked at a story about two sisters, Mary and Martha. These two sisters threw a party welcoming Jesus into their home but Martha threw her own additional party, the dreaded pity party. Martha was so wrapped up in doing and completing things that she missed the whole reason of His visit, to simply be with Him. This week let’s strive to take a moment to be still and listen to God and simply enjoy his presence.
Stress
1 Kings 19:1-18This Sunday we talked about STRESS!! Stress can rob us of our joy and time. We talked about a dude in the bible named Elijah who was stressed out. Elijah was running for his life from an angry and crazy lady named Jezebel. Hiding in a cave far from his home Elijah is spoken to by God and asked this question: “What are you doing here Elijah?”. Elijah was reminded of God’s faithfulness in his past and he found courage to travel back to do what God had called him to do.
The next time you !nd yourself in the middle of stress ask yourself this question: “what are you doing here (insert name)?!”. We must remember how faithful God has been so far in our lives and trust that He will get us through any challenge.
Temptation
Matthew 3With temptation there is always more at stake than we see in the moment. Just like with the marshmallow test, we can say no to something now to get something better in the future. Every single temptation begs the question of how much can we trust our heavenly father?
In Matthew 3 Jesus was tempted by satan himself. We can not let temptation steal our future, our family, or our faith. There is always more at stake than we realize.
Power of Sin
Galatians 5:16-25Over the past few weeks we have learned that Jesus’ death not only set us free from the penalty of sin, but the power of sin as well. We do not have to allow sin to control us, we actually have power over it.
This past Sunday we looked at what Paul said about the importance of walking in the spirit. Paul tells us that if we can learn to walk in the spirit we will produce specific characteristics such as love, joy, peace, patience, self control and more. When our circumstances turn bad those characteristics don’t change because ultimately they aren’t rooted in this world.
Kingdom of God
Luke 16:1-15A few weeks ago we discovered that one of the reasons Jesus came to live among us was to teach us about the Kingdom of God. So what exactly was Jesus trying to tell us about the Kingdom of God?
This Sunday we discovered that one of the things Jesus explained to us was God’s priority system. God does not want us to be mastered by anything, instead He wants to be the master of our lives. Anything we put before God becomes a Lord to us. Jesus specifically pointed out our money and stuff as something that can be the priority of our lives. What if we no longer looked at what we had with an “it’s all for me” attitude. What if we no longer thought “if it comes to me then it’s for me” because consumption always leads to discontentment and worry.
